Your unique giftings…

1 Corinthians 12:4-6

4There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. 5There are different kinds of service, but the same LORD. 6There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.

It’s so easy to get tangled up in the web of comparison when we look at what others are doing and say, “I could never do that.” But the good news is, you don’t have to. In fact, you aren’t even supposed to be able to! That’s their thing, not yours. As 1 Corinthians 12:4-6 highlights, there are different kinds of gifts and service, all working together for the Glory of God, and that God is working in all of us differently.

What others are doing can be motivational and inspiring, but it can also be discouraging and distracting. We can’t let the giftings of others become a roadblock to finding and using our own unique abilities.

We need to source our inspiration straight from the Source. Ask Him directly what it looks like to walk out your unique giftings. What can you uniquely contribute? How do you bring it forth in a coherent message and ministry that reflects your interests and strengths? This was hard for me, but when I got really serious about asking the Lord for guidance, the Herald project started to take shape.

Often it is our specific combination of traits and talents that makes our message compelling. Yet it’s often our uniqueness that actually holds us back – we are different so we think it is not good or enough. Don’t be afraid to bring all of you into your ministry! He made you…all of you. And He loves all of you. He invites you to walk out your giftings in your own unique way. Give it a try and see what doors open.
